Thumper is the entire reason PupsPaste exists.
He has a big heart, a bigger personality, and at 115 pounds, a strong interest in amateur wrestling. Brushing time usually meant collapsing on the floor and turning it into a full contact sport.

We tried the usual store bought options. Chicken paste did not help. Nothing about them felt clean, thoughtful, or designed for daily brushing with a dog like Thumper.

I wanted something better. Something simple, real, and made with intention.

So after the kids went to bed, I started experimenting in the kitchen. I researched constantly, tested small batches, made careful, calculated changes, and kept refining. You could say I am wired for optimization when something matters to me.

One thing never changed. Thumper liked the toothpaste. That mattered. Over time, brushing became easier. His mouth felt cleaner, and what used to be a full contact sport turned into something we bonded over. As the habit formed, I found myself enjoying that small moment of taking care of him.

That was the moment this whole thing started.

Why We Make It

Thumper is our Chief Flavor Officer. He naps like it is his full-time job and supervises like he is expecting a performance review. Before PupsPaste, brushing time meant he would flop onto the floor with all 115 pounds of determination. You can imagine the thud. He knows if he drops his weight, I am not exactly about to suplex him into the bathroom.

These days, he will actually walk toward the bathroom on his own. I am not saying he is thrilled about it, but compared to the old flop-and-thud routine, it feels like a small miracle.

He “reviews” every batch with dramatic sniffing, slow head tilts, and that thoughtful lip-lick he does when something actually tastes good. And trust me, there was another flavor I tested that absolutely did not make the cut. Thumper’s feedback is honest, immediate, and impossible to ignore. If he does not approve, it does not get made. Every jar still earns his stamp of paw-proval.

I’m Kristopher, the guy who spends his nights logging data, testing ratios, analyzing trends, and trying to make something a little better than it was the day before. After the kids go to bed, I turn into the late-night formulator behind PupsPaste. I’m an Enneagram 1 and an analyst at heart, so paying attention to details comes naturally. It is simply how I am wired.

Most of my life revolves around my kids and my dog, and I love the time we get together. Family means everything to me, and this little hobby ended up fitting right into that life. It became something fun to work on, something hands-on and intentional that I could build piece by piece.


After extensive testing, tracking, adjusting, and refining, I landed on two final versions I am genuinely proud of. Each batch is made with care, quality, and the same level of attention I give to the things that matter most in my life.
